Here are some of the smash cake pictures. I had to give Izzy birthday cake for the day after her birthday because Jon and I were video taping her and totally forgot about the camera. I don't think she was complaining though. haha

Running

  • Jun. 19th, 2009 at 12:19 PM
happy
For the past three weeks I've been having fun running. This morning I ran 2.300 miles in 20 minutes. I'm still a pretty slow runner but that's not bad for a beginner and getting over the flu I think. At this stage I'm not too concerned about my time. I'm just happy to be running and breaking a sweat finally.

Isabel's b-day & her accomplishments

  • Jun. 18th, 2009 at 8:38 PM
Messy
I can't believe that my little girl will be ONE next Wednesday! I've decided to make a small round cake with a Tinkerbell candle on top, and cupcakes with the rest of the cake batter. I'm still uncertain on what type of cake I'll be making though. Izzy and I are feeling better but Jon is sick now. The best time to celebrate her birthday will be the 27th. It's also my dad's birthday. I was thinking of logging into Skype video so that my parents could see their grandbaby that day. Jon and I also want to take Isabel out somewhere. The only place I can think of that I know she would enjoy is the zoo. It's been forever since I've been to a zoo. I think the last time was when I was ten and it was at the Sacramento Zoo in California.

~Isabel's accomplishments in one year~

Food: carrots, string beans, peas, spinach, brocolli, corn, potatos, sweet potatos, apples, pears, peaches, strawberries, blueberries, bananas, plums, grapes, chicken, turkey, beef, eggs, cheese, milk, oatmeal, rice cerial, Life cerial, cherios, puffs, biscuits, pancakes, waffles, cookies, cake, ice cream, goldfish crackers, rice, tofu, and just about everything we eat except for spicy stuff.

Physical Feats: lifting her head, smiling, laughing, baby push ups, rolling over, grabbing objects, sitting up, shaking her head, crawling, standing, walk with support. climb, bounce up and down, dance, and partial summer salt.

Teeth: She has four teeth and four coming in.

Words she can say: mama, dada, cat, backpack, and map

I feel like death

This is the first time I've been really sick and had to take care of a baby. It's also the first time Isabel's been sick. I think she had the sniffles back in January but up until now it's been pretty mild. I'm pretty sure we all have the flu and I'm hoping it goes away before Isabel's birthday. I'll be very sad if she is sick on her first birthday. As it is I might have to do something that involves less work for her cake because I don't know if I'll have the energy. I wanted to make her homemade apple cake but the way I'm feeling, I might just turn to good old box cake. I'm not sure what I would pick up if I wasn't making apple cake. I'm sure I'll figure out something.

Friend came into town

My best friend Sarah was out here a few days ago. We had dinner at Bubba Gumps and had drinks. Isabel tried eating the coasters and anything that was in front of her lol. Here's a picture of my friend holding the munchkin :).

Climbing

So Isabel has learned how to climb before she can really walk lol. I need to buy a different gate that enters the kitchen from the living room. That's okay though because I planned on getting a swinging gate for this area. Just when you think you have things baby proofed something changes. By the time the second one comes around I should I hope the house will be 100% baby proofed.

Spring Cleaning

I'm done doing a billion dishes. We have ten dishes, ten bowls, ten mini dishes, ten big glasses and on and on. It's just too much and silly to have all of these. I've decided to pack up most of them and keep out a set of four of everything. Next thing I really need to do is organize the pantry because I'm tired of never being able to find things. I'm sure there are some old whatever that needs to be trashed anyway. I also need to steam clean the carpets again. I'm not sure how much other babies spit up but I almost think my kid tops the charts. I can't wait till her tummy muscles have more control.

I made an appointment with a civilian podiatrist on May 5th. After that will probably be the appointment to have the nails removed. I'm nervous but really excited to just be done with it. I can't wait to wear running shoes again! I've been stuck wearing sandles because it's the only thing that doesn't hurt. Good thing I live in Hawaii where sandles are pretty much standard shoes to wear lol.

I've been in a huge baking mood lately. Which is dangerous because I cant run off anything I eat at the moment. Last month I made apple pear cup pies for a picnic on the beach and now I want to make chocolate pecan cup pies. I got the idea for cup pies from the show "Pushing Daisies". Instead of using a pie pan you use cupcake tins. It's so much fun having your own little pie and you don't even need a fork. They're so cute hehe.

The walls are closing in

I never realized how small this house was until all the baby stuff moved in. It's just way too narrow. I think if it was wider but shorter it wouldn't be quite as bad. I just knocked over a nail polish bottle with my fat ass and it shattered a glass water bowl. Now I have tiny glass shards in the carpet. Thankfully Isabel never goes in that room unless she's in a high chair. Ugh, I hate being clumsy. Next year we may be able to move into a bigger place if I get pregnant. I'm worried will be moved into a bigger but "historic" home. I hope we will get lucky and get into the newer ones. That's if we do have a second child. I'm just not sure with how the economy is but my biological clock wants another one lol.

It's been awhile

Let's see what has happen since the last time I posted? Well when we got back from Oregon Isabel grew like a weed. She's almost walking but is still holding on to the sofa for support. Our house is almost compeletly baby proof except for the kitchen, hallway, stairway, our bedroom, and bathroom. Okay so I guess we still have a lot of work to do lol. So far the living room and Isabel's room is baby friendly. All the outlets are covered now but we need two more gates.

I haven't lost anymore weight but I haven't gained either. The plan was to run but my ingrowns came back really bad. It's hard to walk and I'm afraid I'm screwing up my feet and or my back the way I've been walking lately. I saw the doctor on Monday and I'm being referred to a foot doctor. This time the nails are coming off for good. I'm really nervous about the procedure but I'm looking forward for when I'm all healed up so I can start running again.

That's pretty much it I think. Here's some pictures of my little stinker

Jon has watch on Christmas and I wanted him to enjoy the holiday and not feel rushed. So we set back the dates and Christmas Day for us will be tomorrow. Every year in Jon's family the kids opened one present on Christmas Eve and it was always pajamas. We decided to carry on that tradition. Here are some pictures of Izzy opening her gifts from Visi Vou (great grandma in Portuguese).

New Glasses & Buzzed

I called today to make an appointment for my eyes. I was really lucky and they had an opening today at 3:30! This is horrible but it's been four years since my last examination and six years since I bought new glasses. After about two hours of trying on every pair known to man I finally found glasses that I think look good on me. They should look really good with my new haircut that I'm getting soon too. So excited!

I'm drinking Wild Blue beer right now. It's a blueberry lager and it's really good. I know your thinking, "eww" and so did I until I tried it. It's yummy.

Early this morning I bought a Moby Wrap for Isabel and a pink bini. I can't wait to start using it! I also picked up two more presents for her to open on Christmas Day. I'm sure I'll be the one opening them though lol.

I'm really excited to have our laptops all set up now. They are ta sexy and I love em! Best Christmas presents ever as far as material items go. Isabel is actualy the best present ever. I can't wait to celebrate my baby's first Christmas!
